Friday, April 13, 2007, was the day Austrian "Lord of the Rings" enthusiasts had been eagerly awaiting.

Many fans had secured their tickets months in advance and had very high expectations regarding the Austrian premiere of "The Lord of the Rings Symphony". The Vienna "Radio-Symphonieorchester" under the direction of conductor Markus Huber met and exceeded these expectations.

The Vienna Boys' Choir lived up to its excellent reputation, impressing the audience, among others, with a solo in Elvish. Other highlights were the performance of the Vienna "Singakademie" – and, of course, outstanding vocal performances by soloists, including 16- year-old soprano Kaitlyn Lusk. Illustrations by Alan Lee and John Howe shown on large screens gave the event a multimedia touch.

The costume competition organized by the promoter prompted numerous attendants to dress up as "Lord of the Rings" characters. The prize for the best costume was an Xbox 360 console.
